Charge the battery, fill the stainless steel bowl with shisha (loose, not packed down), attach the bowl to the head, then press power and pick a temperature. Your first session is about several minutes away.
An electronic hookah (e-hookah) is a device that heats shisha tobacco with an electric heating element instead of burning charcoal. You keep the bowl-style session, the flavors and the draw of a real hookah — without coals, foil or ash. IMOTO’s G3 pairs a precision SS pod with electronic temperature control, so every session tastes the same as the last.
A battery powers a heating element that sits beneath the shisha pod and holds it at your chosen temperature. Because heat is controlled by electronics rather than burning coals, temperature stays consistent for the entire session — no harsh peaks, no fading coals.
No. A vape vaporizes e-liquid, while an electronic hookah heats real shisha in a bowl — keeping the bowl-style session, the flavors and the draw of a true hookah.
No — an electric heating element replaces charcoal completely. There is nothing to light, nothing to rotate mid-session, and no ash to dispose of afterwards. It also means no carbon monoxide from burning coals.
An e-HMD is an electronic heat management device: a powered heating unit that heats the shisha directly, replacing the charcoal-and-bowl combination of a traditional setup. The IMOTO G3 head belongs to this category — one component that does the job of both the coal and the bowl.
An electronic hookah removes the charcoal, and with it the carbon monoxide and coal-combustion byproducts that come from burning coals. It is not harm-free: shisha containing tobacco still contains nicotine, and heated tobacco is not a harmless product. We state only what the evidence supports — no charcoal, no coal-related CO — and nothing more.
Charge the battery, fill the stainless steel bowl with shisha (loose, not packed down), attach the bowl to the head, then press power and pick a temperature. Your first session is about several minutes away.
A fully charged IMOTO Compact Power Module or G1 LED base, or G2 base delivers roughly two sessions. Session length also depends on your temperature setting — lower settings sip power, while higher settings drain the battery faster.
Start on the middle preset for your first few sessions, then adjust to taste: lower temperatures suit lighter, sweeter flavors and longer sessions; higher settings give denser clouds and stronger tobacco body. There is no wrong answer — temperature is personal.
Yes for flavors — any brand of shisha works in the Open bowl, so you can keep smoking exactly what you already like. The bowl itself is different: IMOTO’s SS bowl system replaces it, so your old bowl won’t be used with the G3.
The Open Bowl is refillable: you pack it with any shisha you like, the way you would pack a traditional bowl. The Capsule Pod is pre-sealed for maximum convenience — no packing, no mess, click in and smoke. Open means freedom; Capsule means convenience.
Flavor and vapor drop off noticeably when the shisha in the bowl/pod is spent — that is your signal to stop or swap pods. Relevant prompts will appear on the G3 screen to let you know when this session is complete. Unlike charcoal, there is no guessing from the color of a coal.
Rinse the bowl and mouthpiece with warm water after every session, and give the bowl a deeper clean about once a week. The electronics never need washing — just wipe the body with a dry cloth. Full steps are in our cleaning guide.
Discard the spent shisha, rinse the bowl under warm water, and use a soft brush for stubborn residue. Let it dry completely before the next session. Avoid dish soap on SS bowl — it can hold a soapy taste for days.
Empty the bowl if the device will sit for more than a day, store everything at room temperature away from direct sunlight, and keep the battery around half-charged for longer storage. A dry, dust-free spot — the included pouch — is ideal.
Replace the Capsule Pod after one session — it is single-use by design. The Open bowl lasts many sessions with regular cleaning; retire it when flavors start ghosting into each other or flavor turns not pure.
Usually the electronic one: with no coal management there are fewer ruined sessions while you’re learning, and consistent temperature makes early sessions taste the way they should. If the ritual itself is what you love, start traditional. Our full comparison covers taste, cost, health and setup side by side.
IMOTO offers two G3 bundles: the G3 Ultra Head with IMOTO Compact Power Module at $299.99, and the G3 Ultra Head with IMOTO G2 Base at $399.99. The Power Module kit is the wireless — easy for lunge to take care; the G2 Base kit is the portable pick – have your session wherever you like.
Check three things in order: 1. Connection — make sure the G3 head is properly aligned and fully seated onto the connector of your Compact Power Module or G2 Base, or that the power adapter is plugged in correctly; poor contact is the most common cause. 2. Power — confirm your power source has charge; if the battery is low, charge it first, or simply plug in the power adapter and use the device while it’s connected. 3. Power on — press the power button 5 times in a row to turn the device on. If it still won’t start after all three checks, contact support with your order number.
Usually one of three causes: the pod is nearly spent, the temperature is set too low for that flavor, or residue in the pod is muting the taste. Try a fresh pod at a slightly higher setting before assuming a fault.
The battery delivers about 2 sessions per charge, and charges via the included power adapter in.
